AUTHORS GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

Paper Type

The journal publishes Full text research Papers, Short Communications, Reviews, and Case Studies.

 

Submission

Submission to this journal proceeds totally online. Use the following guidelines to prepare your article. Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All communications (notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision) takes place by e-mail and via the author's homepage.

Authors are requested to provide the names and e-mail addresses of at least 3 reviewers.

Ethics in Publishing

The ethical policy of Advances in Hydromechanics is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and complies with International Committee of AET Editorial Board codes of conduct. Readers, authors, reviewers and editors should follow these ethical policies once working with AET.   The ethical policy of AET is liable to determine which of the typical research papers or articles submitted to the journal should be published in the concerned issue. The publishing decision is based on the suggestion of the journal's reviewers and editorial board members. The ethical policy insisted the Editor-in-Chief, may confer with other editors or reviewers in making the decision.  The reviewers are necessary to evaluate the research papers based on the submitted content in confidential manner.  The reviewers too suggest the authors to improve the quality of research paper by their reviewing comments.  Authors should ensure that their submitted research work is original and has not been published elsewhere in any language.  Applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed by the authors.  Any kind of plagiarism constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.  For information on this matter in publishing and ethical guidelines please visit http://publicationethics.org.

Any requests to add, delete, or rearrange author names in an article published in an online issue will follow the same policies as noted above and result in a corrigendum.

 

Permission required

Permission should be sought from the publisher to reproduce any substantial part of a copyrighted work that depends on both the significance of the material and the quantity of material used. This includes any text, illustrations, charts, tables, photographs, or other material from previously published sources used.  If excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners (publisher) and credit the source(s) in the manuscript.

 

Permission not required

Copyright protects only original (i.e. creative) material. As such it protects only the particular form of expression of a work, and not the ideas or facts contained in it. Public domain works are not protected by copyright and may be reproduced without permission. Permission would however be required to re-use the final formatted, edited, published version of the work in certain cases, as it is owned by the publisher.

 

Author Agreement

In order to disseminate the authors’ research work, the publishers need publishing rights. For open access articles the publisher uses an exclusive licensing agreement in which authors retain copyright in their manuscript (AIH copyright form).

 

Changes to Authorship

After the manuscript is submitted or accepted for publication, the corresponding author is required to send a request through the signed change of authorship form (AIH change of authorship form) to add or remove an author or to rearrange the author names of the submitted/accepted manuscript.

 

Creative Commons Attribution

Permit others distribute and copy the manuscript, to create extracts, abstracts, and other revised versions, adaptations or derivative works of or from manuscript (such as a translation), to include in a collective work, to text or data mine the article, even for commercial purposes, as long as they credit the author(s), do not represent the author as endorsing their adaptation of the article, and do not modify the article in such a way as to damage the author's honor or reputation.  Further details found at: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

 

Conflict of Interest

Authors are requested to evident whether impending conflicts do or do not exist. If an organization encompasses any financial interest in the outcome of the study, the authors are appealed to provide a declaration that have full access to all the data in the study and take complete responsibility for the integrity of the data and the accuracy of the data analysis. All studies (if necessary based on the type and subject), must be approved by the relevant Ethics Committee/ Institution review board of the respective institutions. Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to be originated by the authors. A copyright transfer agreement is signed by the corresponding author, upon the acceptance of the manuscript, on behalf of all authors, for publication to be legally responsible towards the Journal ethics and privacy policy. Authors will be notified as soon as possible of decisions concerning the suitability of their manuscripts for publication in the journal. Once the article has been accepted for publication, it will be copy edited and typeset, after which the corresponding author will be sent information on accessing page proofs to correct. Other than the correction of typographical errors, alterations cannot be made at this stage. Please note that there are no page charges to publish in Advances in Hydromechanics. The submitted materials may be considered for inclusion but cannot be returned and Editors of the Journal reserve the right to accept or reject any article in any stage, if necessary.

Enclosing the forms of Copyright agreement and Conflict of interest forms is essential for each submission.

 

MANUSCRIP PREPARATION

The manuscripts should be typed double spaced in 12 pt Times New Roman font and it must include the essential elements: Title, List of authors, Addresses of authors, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Foot notes, Acknowledgements, and References. Pleasedownload the AIH template word file and apply it to your research paper format. 

 

Title: Should clearly indicate the content of the article. No abbreviation should be used in the title.

 

Authors and their addresses: Should be placed below the title. Use an asterisk (*) to distinguish the "corresponding author" with a footnote containing phone number (with country and area code), fax number, full postal address, and email address of the person.

(Title Page, including Titles and Authors and their addresses, should be submitted as a separate file.)

 

Abstract: Abstract should state briefly (no more than 300 words) the reason of the work, the significant new results and major conclusions. Abbreviations should be avoided.

 

Keywords: Up to five words should be provided.

 

Introduction: State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey and a summary of the results. 

 

Materials and Methods: Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference.

 

Results and Discussion: Results and Discussion should be clear and concise.

 

Conclusion: The main conclusion of the work must be presented in a short Conclusion section.

 

Acknowledgements (Optional): Collate it at the end of the article before the references.

 

References:  All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references (and vice versa). References should be listed on a separate sheet in numerical order according to their order of appearance in the text. Typical citations are illustrated below:

The Advances in Hydromechanics uses the author-date citation method for reference formatting. With this method, the author’s last name and publication year are included in an in-text citation.

BASIC IN TEXT FORMAT: When the author is named in a signal phrase as part of the sentence, give the year in parentheses following the name:

Based on comprehensive experimental studies, Machiels (2012) and Machiels et al. (2014) found that the weir height ratio, the ratio of the key widths and the overhangs length ratio are the main dimensionless parameters influencing the PKW hydraulic efficiency.

PARENTHETICAL IN TEXT FORMAT: When the author is not named in the sentence, give the author’s last name and the year of publication in parentheses. Separate the name and date with space:

The first real size PKWs have been built by EDF in the last six years (laugier 2007; bieri and Shi 2009; laugier et al. 2009; Vermeulen et al. 2011; laugier et al. 2012). 

 

The list of references is arranged alphabetically by author's surname, year (and letter, if necessary) and is placed at the end of the work.

 

Tables and Figures: should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals (Table 1. and Figure 1.). Tables must have a brief descriptive title. Figures should have figure captions. The content of figures and tables should not be duplicated. Figures and tables must be put in related location in the manuscript.

 

Graphical abstract:

A graphical abstract is mandatory for this journal. It should summarize the contents of the article in a concise, pictorial form designed to capture the attention of a wide readership online. Authors must provide images that clearly represent the work described in the article. Graphical abstracts should be submitted as a separate file in the online submission system. Image size: please provide an image with a minimum of 531 × 1328 pixels (h × w) or proportionally more. The image should be readable at a size of 5 × 13 cm using a regular screen resolution of 96 dpi. Preferred file types: TIFF, EPS, PDF or MS Office files.
