Advances in Hydromechanics (AIH) is a premier international, open-access, and peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the dissemination of cutting-edge research in fluid mechanics and water systems. Published by the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili in formal collaboration with the Iranian Hydraulic Association, AIH is issued quarterly, providing a rigorous forum for original contributions in theoretical, computational, and experimental hydromechanics.

The journal welcomes high-quality research that explores the forefront of fluid flow dynamics, transport phenomena, dispersion, and transformation processes across diverse water bodies. AIH’s scope encompasses, but is not limited to:

  • Surface and Subsurface Flows: Rivers, wetlands, lakes, estuaries, oceans, and groundwater systems.
  • Environmental Fluid Mechanics: Transport and transformation processes within natural and engineered environments.
  • Interdisciplinary Interactions: Studies focusing on the complex interfaces between water bodies and their boundaries, as well as the interactions between fluid and its constituents.
  • Laboratory & Numerical Simulations: Advanced physical modeling and high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of natural and technical flows.

AIH publishes several categories of scholarly work, including:

  • Original Research Articles: Full-length papers presenting significant new findings.
  • Critical Reviews: Comprehensive syntheses of major advances in specific hydromechanics domains.
  • Short Communications: Rapid publication of preliminary results or innovative technical notes.
  • Case Studies: Detailed investigations of site-specific or unique hydromechanical phenomena.

The journal serves as a bridge between diverse scientific and engineering disciplines, inviting contributions from Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, and Environmental Engineering, as well as Hydrology, Hydraulics, Limnology, and Physical Oceanography.

Advances in Hydromechanics (AIH) is officially authorized by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran (License No. 92209; dated 23 May 2026).
